This is so great, Meg, and so helpful for me. I think I've been using connection and belonging interchangeably, but your writing really helps me see the difference. I suppose connection is the first step, then comes belonging if it's a fit and there's the identification piece. Good food for thought, thank you!
MIA!!! I'm so happy you found this helpful, your feedback means everything so thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts. Your writing has always made me feel like I belong. Always excited for what's next on Mia's Queue 👀
I've been thinking about how curiousity and create connection. There is a sense of play with curiousity so it resonate with your model.
What I like about curiousity for connection is that it can bridge connection across difference which I find helpful, often being the different one in the space. I guage how well I could belong in a space with how curious folks seem learn about me along with some other factors.
I love your perspective on this Desmond 🙌 Curiosity is a huge element of play that I somewhat overlooked if I'm being honest. It's so true though that being curious is what opens us up to connection in the first place. I like finding myself in a room of curious people, like you mentioned, even if we have nothing in common the curiosity forms that common ground for a connection to grow. I feel like there's even more to curiosity though, I'm going to think on that for my next voicemail. Thank you!!
Thanks John!! I've been wrestling with how to visualize this framework for a while now and still think it needs work but I'm glad the imagery is resonating 🙌
If I can do anything meaningful in this world it would be to make people feel like they belong 💖

Love the graphic !! So intuitive, it's genius.
I always feel - misplaced- , just like my glasses... Never really belonging.
But I'm -always- trying to build that sense of belonging for others.
